Gil Gerard passed away on December 16 at the age of 82. He was most remembered for his role as the lead in Buck Rogers in the 25th Century. His son from a prior relationship, Gib Gerard, and his wife of eighteen years, Janet Gerard, survive him.
Janet confirmed the actor’s passing on Gil’s official Facebook page on December 16. According to her, she was “by his side” when he “passed away this morning in hospice care.”
Gil wrote in one of Janet’s posts that his life “has been an amazing journey.”
“The opportunities I’ve had, the people I’ve met, and the love I have given and received have made my 82 years on the planet deeply satisfying,” he said. “I’ve traveled from Arkansas to New York to Los Angeles, and now I’m back in North Georgia with my incredible 18-year-old wife, Janet. Although it’s been a wonderful journey, it will eventually come to an end, just like mine did.
Gil told fans to “see you out somewhere in the cosmos” and not to “waste your time on anything that doesn’t thrill you or bring you love.”
Prior to Janet, Gil had multiple marriages. His son is the child of his marriage to The Greatest American Hero star Connie Sellecca.
